Alison Wright has been an English actress for over twenty years. She was nominated for the Emmy Awards in the year 2017 in her role of Martha Hanson, the star of FX's historical spy series The Americans. Wright was born 12 July 1976 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear and was raised by her adopted parents. She began dancing and acting at a young age. She went to The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and The Barrow Group, both located in New York City. When she was auditioning to be cast in roles, she was an waitress. She had been scuba diving which was a passion of hers, and suffered a cardiac episode at sea that left her in the coma. Six days later she passed away in peace, surrounded by her beloved family members, who flew in to be by her side at the hospital. Wright was adopted by her parents and was raised in Sunderland.
