Alex Guarnaschelli
Guarnaschelli was the daughter of Guarnaschelli's cookbook editor Maria Guarnaschelli and John Guarnaschelli. Guarnaschelli graduated from Barnard College in 1991 with an education in art history. She was employed in an American Place restaurant for one year for an hourly wage of minimum from the year 1991 through the year 1991. Guarnaschelli began her journey into the world of food through helping her mother try out a variety of recipes, and later making edits to the books. Guarnaschelli began her career as a sous chef under Larry Forgione. Her son Marc Forgione was the Iron Chef. Guarnaschelli continued to be employed at several restaurants in France as well as Los Angeles. Guy Savoy owns La Butte Chaillot. Prior to joining Butter, she worked as executive chef in the Patina restaurant owned by Daniel Boulud and at Joachim Splichal's Patina. Before its closure it was her job to be the executive chef of The Darby. She is chair of the Museum of Food and Drink's Culinary Council. Guarnaschelli has released her first book in 2013. "Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I learned to cook" incorporates autobiographical elements with the most loved recipes from her professional life that she adapted for the home.
